Why two metronomes drift apart

Start two metronome apps on two phones at exactly the same moment and watch them slowly drift out of phase. That's not a bug — it's basic physics. Two independent clocks, no matter how precise, will always disagree by tiny amounts that compound over minutes. Professional studios solve this with hardware word clocks and wired click distribution. METRO X solves it with a real-time network protocol that constantly re-aligns every device to the host, so a four-piece band on four iPhones stays as tight as a click track on tape.

What SYNC does

  • One host, unlimited followers. Anyone can host a SYNC room. Everyone else joins with a four-character room code or a tap on a nearby device.
  • Sub-millisecond alignment. Every device in the room hears the same beat at the same instant — well below the threshold of perceptible drift.
  • Tempo and downbeat shared. The host controls BPM, time signature, and the downbeat. Followers see and hear exactly what the host does, in real time.
  • Works over Wi-Fi or cellular. Use the same Wi-Fi for tightest performance, or join over cellular for remote rehearsal across town.
  • Silent visual mode for the stage. Followers can mute the click and follow the patent-pending floating Orb instead.
  • No extra hardware. No stage box, no in-ear monitor mix, no audio engineer.

How to start a SYNC session

  1. One person creates the room. Open the SYNC tab, tap Create Room, set tempo and time signature, and read out the four-character room code.
  2. Everyone else joins. Open SYNC on every other device, tap Join Room, and enter the code. You're locked to the host's beat instantly.
  3. Pick your beat — audio, visual, or both. Each player chooses how they want to feel the beat. Your choice doesn't affect anyone else.
  4. Host adjusts in real time. Change tempo, hit pause, or restart at any time. Every follower updates instantly.
